"Share Your Experiences of Your Stay At Maimonidies"

Lately, I’ve been hearing scary stories about our local hospital. I’m referring to our ‘heimishe’ hospital "Maimonidies Medical Center" who receives the highest ratings in care, etc. from all those who rate hospitals (I know they pay a lot of money for these ratings). I also listen to MMC ads where they pride themselves on being the very best, and having the best quality care. When I hear these ads, I get mad at myself for not doing something about it! We should be just the opposite! We should have the best care in the country without paying for false ratings! People think that they're doing a sick person a favor by getting him/her into a local, top rated hospital, just because it's run by heimishe people! WRONG! Why should a heimishe person take his close relative into a hospital that is run by heimishe people, and get a phone call that he is dead, when he went into the hospital for a minor surgery? Ok, mistakes could happen, and I thought I was a single unlucky person, the time came, hashem wanted back his neshama! But I told my friend this story and he told me an even scarier story! I was horrified! Since then I'm hearing stories all the time! A close relative of mine was in maimonides for a week getting treatment for an unknown problem! After a week he was transfered to a different hospital and was out in less than 24 hours! They took an x-ray, found the problem, treated it, and he was back on his feet in no time! I guess the hospital make more money if the patient is in the hospital for a longer time! The longer the better! Isn't somone ignoring our problems and minding his money? Aren't we being laughed at? Don't we deserve better from our own comunity? How many people could have still been alive if we had not kept our stories a secret? Anyone out there have any ‘wonderful’ stories or anyone interested in bringing a class-action suit? If you have any stories that you think would interest the public please feel free to add a coment!! You can't keep such stories to yourself and not do anything about it!!! P.S. Please e-mail me at shmo123@gmail.com so that I could respond to ur comment if needed. Note: All the posts are e-mails I got from people!

My aunt was a patient on Aaron 4 for 3 weeks. She claims the nurses washed once a week. Of course I had the patient rep come to take the report. We both went to the nurse in charge and she told us that my aunt was washed every day as it showed on the chart. All they do is write on the chart but they did NOT wash this poor woman.

My uncle was on K 7. The nurse walks in to take his vitals. She picked up the chart which is at the foot of the bed and wrote the same thing that was written the day before. His wife asked her....... What are you doing? You never even took his blood pressure, or checked his temp!!!! She told my aunt to mind her own business!!!!!! I called the head nurse Sandra Ollendorf, and she was shocked. Of course that nurse was reprimanded, but she's still there.

Mr G. was a patient in the ICU. he had water in his lungs and running high fever. They had no idea where the infection was. He was comatose for 4 days. THe family begged to have him checked out by a cardiologist. They refused saying its not his heart, its his lungs. They had him transferred to Mt Sinai by hatzola and there he was treated for heart failure. He is alive today if not for the transfer.

A young man was in ICU, he had a stroke. His Dr was Dr Rudolph. ( stroke specialist ) After a few days the patient ran high fever, no one knew where the infection was. Dr Kupfer is head of ICU. Dr Rudolph told him to give this patient another type of antibotics. Dr Kupfer said no. Meantime the patient was fading away! It was Pesach and Dr Kupfer was on vacation, so Dr Rudolph took the lab work to another laboratory ( of course nobody was supposed to know ) and had the infection diagnosed and treated without Dr Kupfer's permission. B'h the patient is much better. Dr Kupfer is a frum Dr but he thinks he is G-d. I have never met anyone who said a nice thing about him.

People have to wait sometime for days in the ER for a bed upstairs. The reason: No beds available. I checked many times and saw there are beds!!!!! The truth is, the insurance pays more per day in the ER then it does for a room. Like you say, it's all MONEY. A woman was brought in with a broken heel. They told her there are no beds and there are 16 people ahead of her. After calling the "right" people they gave her a bed the same night!!!!!! I thought there weren't beds!!! Nebech on those that have no protectzia.

I could go on and on and never stop. As long as you get the picture!
